Welcome From Dr. Collette House, Superintendent

The 2020-2021 school year has raised challenges across our nation that we could never have anticipated!  Back in March, our teachers immediately changed course to provide elearning for students of all ages and we finished the year academically on pace and educationally strong.  Although we received great feedback from our parents, our faculty and administration all believe that having students on campus is crucial to the mental, physical, spiritual, social, and emotional health of our children and families!  We are working nearly “round the clock” to plan protocols and implement recommendations so that we can safely Return to Campus! The excitement among our staff and families is almost palpable, and we are creatively tweaking daily routines so that we can gather and pursue our mission…

Relationship/Education/Service!  These three core values are not simply a mission statement on our walls and website.  We endeavor to promote them in all that we do here at ACS.  Deepening our relationships with Jesus Christ and nurturing healthy, meaningful relationships with each other are of prime importance.  Engaging in an education that provides opportunities for spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and academic development is also a top priority.  And serving those within our walls, those in our community, and others around the globe is our final key purpose.

The school community experience is SO much richer when you are personally involved!  Already this August, over 50 parents and students worked together to spruce up the landscaping and beautify the campus!  Families also gathered to prayer walk around the buildings!  Although some of you are heavily time-committed and don’t want to feel pressured for “one more thing,” you may have talents and passions you desire to share with the ACS community.  Throughout the year, various leaders will provide opportunities for you to get purposefully involved in a specific Parent Support Team (PST)!

Whether you’re new to ACS this year or you’ve been here for generations, you are now (and always will be) a part of the Aurora Christian family.  I don’t write that flippantly… families bond and grow through “doing life together” at games, concerts, plays, conferences, and the daily grind of an academic year!  Although we won’t be able to gather as regularly as during a typical year, more than ever we need to support and encourage each other in the good times and the bad.  There will definitely be many high points in the year that you’ll want to capture and post!  There may also be times that we fall short in communication or expectations and need to work together for improvement.  Please get involved… introduce yourself to me, to our staff, to each other… and always let our teachers and administrators know when you have questions or concerns.  We are all committed to working together for the long-term success of your children!

In pursuit of our mission,

Collette House, Ed.D
Superintendent
