A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE...
The advent to the athletic program at Aurora Christian was in 1977, just two years after the origin of the school itself. In that first year, Aurora Christian had only two sports: basketball and baseball. Cross Country was added in 1978, and one by one other sports eventually became part of Aurora Christian School. All sports struggled to be competitive in those early years. But the athletic program grew through the dedication, commitment and perseverance of the players and coaches.
After glimpses of success in the early 1980’s, Aurora Christian athletics was on the map in the late 1980’s. Also during that period in 1987, the new gymnasium was completed at the 801 campus, providing much needed space and a beautiful facility for our varsity competitions. Another great step for our athletic program came when Aurora Christian School joined the IHSA in 1988. In the fall of 2000, Aurora Christian became a full member of the Private School League of Greater Chicago. Competition in the Private School League concluded in 2008-2009. In 2009 we began competition in the Suburban Christian Conference. (With the addition of Aurora Christian School, Chicago Christian, Guerin Prep, and Wheaton Academy, the former Suburban Catholic Conference became the Suburban Christian Conference in 2009.) ACS is currently in the Metro Suburban Conference since 2017.
Today, Aurora Christian School offers six middle school boys/girls sports and thirteen high school boys/girls sports, including up to three separate levels for some of these sports. We have seen many of our teams and squads compete successfully over the years during the regular season, tournaments, summer competitions and even post-season state competitions. May God continue to bless our endeavors, and may we be faithful in advancing His eternal Kingdom.
The current chapter in Aurora Christian School’s athletic history includes a beautiful, 1500 seat gymnasium at our Sullivan Campus as well as a state-of-the-art athletic field and track.
