ACS Football Core Beliefs

We believe this program was not created to win football games, but rather to teach, instill, and strengthen the core beliefs of the Christian faith.  Football is merely a means to that end.  The parallels between football and the personal walk each player has with the Lord are countless.  These fundamental truths, which define this program, are our core beliefs.

We believe that the missing link in our culture today is the value of discipline.  To combat this prevalent state of apathy, our mission through this program is to create a lasting work habit that will be used in every area of life, especially in the relentless pursuit to please God.

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field...Luke 10:2

We believe there is no such thing as a successful, passive Christian.  Spiritual warfare is a reality.  To battle the undeniable growing evil in the world, Christians must be ferociously good.  Likewise, football demands that tenacious spirit.  It is also a great way to instill the warrior mentality it takes to be an effective Christian.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand...Ephesians 6:13.

We believe that success is a natural byproduct of passion.  Football is a passionate sport that is played best with an unyielding determination to succeed.  In the exact same way, our walk with Christ commands our full heart to thrive.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind…Luke 10:27

We believe the response to circumstances is far more important than the circumstances themselves.  During the course of a football game, adversity will happen.  Our reaction is critical to victory.  In a much deeper sense, the Christian walk through life requires we remain fixed on our goal and respond the right way when difficulty comes.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything…James 1:2-4

We believe we achieve far more as a team than as individuals.  Although we value each player individually, and each has a role on our team, each member needs to understand that he is part of something bigger than himself.  When the team succeeds, we all succeed.

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it…I Corinthians 12:26-27
