Spiritual Life

Service is an important part of a student's life here at Aurora Christian. We seek to fulfill our mission statement by encouraging and promoting service to our school body, community, and beyond.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 says, "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men."

The purpose of Chapel is to foster an atmosphere which helps bring students to a closer relationship with Christ through worship and the word of God each week. We know that Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith, has a plan for the life of each student. We are here to develop and encourage their faith and spiritual maturity. We encourage students to love the Lord with everything they've got, while equipping them to get involved by taking their faith to their communities.

Each chapel begins with a student led worship time and is typically followed by a guest speaker.

As a means of fulfilling the school's mission of preparing students for a life of service to Christ and their world, each high school student must complete 8 hours of Christian service per quarter, and each middle school student must complete 4 hours of Christian service per quarter.  This service must be performed during the current quarter for non-family members, verified by parents, and submitted for a percentage of the Bible grade.

ACS is committed to serving others, so much so that every May we dedicate a full-school day to going out into our community to serve.  Students, teachers, staff, and volunteers from kindergarten to the senior class come together forming a 600 plus member workforce for a unique day of service.  Over 30 non-profit organizations, i.e. churches, nursing homes, food pantries, homeless shelters, etc., benefit from a work-related visit by one of the 10-50 member ACS City-Serve teams.

Each spring during Spring Break, approximately 100-150 High School students from Aurora Christian High School venture out into our community and serve through a construction service project. This school-wide missions trip is something that our students, teachers, parents, and administrators look forward to each spring.
