Applied Technology 1 

This is a semester-long course for freshmen to grow into an intermediate/advanced knowledge, understanding and utilization of common computer applications.  Students are challenged to excel in MLA formatting and documentation as well as utilize data between Google Docs, and Google Drawings. Additional applications may be used throughout the semester to enhance student’s learning and use of technology. 

 

Applied Technology 2

This is a semester-long course for sophomores – seniors. The students will develop a mastery understanding and application of Google Sheets, learning to effectively use the program in everyday life and business situations. During this course, the students will also utilize the Google Slides application to produce a variety of practical and creative publications. This course also integrates MLA documentation and utilizes data between Google Docs, Sheets, Maps and Drawing. Additional applications may be used throughout the semester to enhance student’s learning and use of technology.  The prerequisite for this course is Applied Technology 1, or a comparable computer course.

 

The Teen Entrepreneur

This class is a comprehensive real-world simulation, with projects and content, that teaches and reinforces computer applications skills through entrepreneurship concepts.  This class integrates all of the Google Applications, and helps students put together a business plan to start a real, teen-based business. Students draw on a variety of business and technology skills that include:

• Desktop Publishing & Graphic Design
• Word Processing
• Spreadsheets

• Internet Research
• Planning & Decision-Making

Prerequisite: Applied Technology 2, or a comparable computer course.
 

Google Apps for Learning Career Readiness

This class will help students get a jump start on their futures as they learn how to prepare for and succeed in their future careers. Using all of the Google Applications, students learn about professionalism, interview skills, resume writing, workplace ethics, and more.  Tips covered includes:

Introduction to Computer Science with JavaScript 

This semester course explores the foundations of computer science and basic programming concepts. Students will be introduced to code architecture techniques and the iterative coding process. In addition to writing and executing JavaScript programs, students will share their unique code perspective with the class. Students will end the semester with a capstone project that requires them to demonstrate programming skills.


Introduction to Web Design 

This semester course explores website design using HTML and CSS. By the end of this course, students will be able to explain how web pages are developed and viewed on the Internet, analyze and fix errors in existing websites, and create their very own multi-page website. Students will learn the foundations of user interface design, rapid prototyping and user testing, and will work together to create professional, mobile responsive websites.
