Focus is a guided study hall designed for students with learning disabilities or who qualify for extra academic assistance. Emphasis is placed on the development of higher academic performance and independent study skills and habits. Small group instruction (maximum 8 to 1 ratio) and individualized help are given in note taking, critical thinking, and concept reinforcement.  Assignment book checks, organizational strategies, and test/quiz review are all common Focus activities.  Peer tutors also assist the teacher in providing tutorial help. The Focus teacher partners with other faculty, parents, and students to provide a positive environment for successful learning.

An individualized Plan for Student Success (PSS) will be created for students who have a documented need for test and classroom accommodations; no modifications to curriculum will be made.  All requests for placement into Focus must be directed to the Focus Coordinator or student's principal. High School Focus times are scheduled in place of the student’s study hall.
