Math 6 Math Course 2, McDougal Littell
The scope of Mathematics 6 includes foundational skills in the following areas: number and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis, probability, and problem solving. The skill emphasis includes decimals, fractions, and integers. Mathematical strategies are models, practiced, and reinforced. Skill transfer to life skills is encouraged through the use of problem solving exercises.
Pre-Algebra Pre-Algebra, McDougal Littell
This course is designed to prepare students with the foundation of Algebraic skills. Studies in variable, integers, expressions, solving equations, inequalities, and exponents are taught. Students also work with ratio, probability and percents. The end of the year is spent working on making, working with, and interpreting graphs. Weekly skillsheets are a component of this course. Open to grade 7.
Algebra 1 Algebra 1, McDougal Littell
This course covers the four fundamental operations of arithmetic from the standpoint of algebra. It will strongly emphasize solving equations and inequalities, as well as factoring polynomials. Students will graph lines and study their slopes and intercepts. Other topics covered within this course are exponents, systems of equations, quadratic equations and functions. This course frequently applies the fundamental algebraic concepts learned to solving real-life word problems. Among its many applications are statistics and probability, and geometry. Weekly skillsheets are a component to this course. Open to grade 8. Prerequisite for 8th grade entrance is at least a 75% in Pre-Algebra.
Algebra 1 Part 1 Algebra 1 Part 1, McDougal Littell
This course is designed for the student who needs a slower paced Math track. It covers the first half of Algebra 1, hitting such concepts as connection to Algebra, real numbers, solving linear equations, and solving and graphing linear inequalities. Weekly skillsheets are a component to this course. Open to grade 7, upon the completion of Pre-Algebra, and grade 8. Prerequisite for entrance is parent or teacher recommendation.
