Mrs. Valerie Anderson joined the staff at ACS in November of 2000. She was born in Coral Gables, Florida, and was raised in Florida and California. As a young adult, Mrs. Anderson moved to Washington, where she raised salmon for a living, and met her husband, Phil. In 2000, they moved to Illinois, to assist Phil's parents. They have three grown children: Graham, Patrick, and Whitney. The family attends Fox River Lutheran Church.
Mr. Jerry Baker’s lengthy teaching ministry with Christian schools began in 1988 at Covenant Christian School in Aurora, IL. He spent over two decades fulfilling the call on his life to be a teacher and to share his passion regarding Christ with his students. Mr. Baker holds a bachelor's degree from Lee University. Mr. Baker and his wife, Anne, have two daughters - Katie and Emily. The Baker family attends Sanctuary Church in Batavia, where Mr. Baker is an elder and senior high Sunday school teacher.
Since 2017, Pastor Jamin Becker has served as the Chapel Band Director at Aurora Christian Schools. As a musician and pastor, he trains and works with students in Chapel Band to lead worship and draw fellow students into the presence of the Lord during chapel each week. Pastor Becker, along with his wife Olga, serves as Lead Pastors at Impact Church in Aurora.
Mr. Dan Beebe became athletic director in March 2010. Mr. Beebe was raised in Sugar Grove, IL and graduated from Kaneland High School in 1986. He completed his undergraduate degree from Chadron State College in 1992 and began his teaching career in 1993 at Spring Valley Hall High School. After teaching there for two years, he went back to graduate school at Chadron State College and became an assistant basketball coach. After completing his master's degree in secondary administration in 1997, he became the head men's basketball coach at the college from 1997-2006. During these years he served as Campus Crusade for Christ coordinator for the college. Mr. Beebe and his wife Stacy have two sons, Trey and Ty. They currently attend Fox River Church in Norway, IL.
Mrs. Chapa's passion for building relationships with others led her to study Psychology at Wheaton College. In the Fall of 2010, she felt the Lord calling her to study Spanish and the study abroad program she attended in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Cuba changed her life. She came to understand the importance of language as a means to connect to others and, subsequently, to share the gospel. She enjoys sharing her passion for language as a means to invest in others. Mrs. Chapa attends Parkview Community Church and lives in Wheaton, IL.
Mrs. Cobb grew up in Batavia, IL. She graduated from Olivet Nazarene University where she earned a B>S. in athletic training. While earning her masters in organizational leadership at Olivet, she worked with various sports teams as an athletic trainer. Mrs. Cobb also teaches Sports Medicine at ACS. She and her husband live in Batavia. They currently attend Ginger Creek Community Church.
Mr. Michael Cobb is a Michigan native and graduate of Olivet Nazarene University. He joined the ACS staff in 2016 as a Middle School and High School Physical Education Teacher. Prior to working at Aurora Christian, he worked for OAK Athletic Development in Bourbonnais, IL as an Athletic Development Personal Trainer working with everyone from middle schoolers and high schoolers to retirees on how to live a life of wellness. Michael finds joy in being able to build relationships with his students, and highly values the Christian environment that ACS provides both students and staff. Michael married fellow ONU grad Melissa Cobb, who is the ATC on staff at Aurora Christian. Michael stays busy coaching High School Cross Country and Junior Varsity Girls Basketball. Outside of school, the Cobbs enjoy building things, watching movies, and spending time with their two dogs, Kevin and Maggie.
After graduating from the University of Illinois in 2005, Mr. Matthew Cunningham began his career in education as an eighth grade English teacher at Jefferson Junior High in Woodridge, IL. The following year he transitioned into teaching at the high school level, first for three years at Plainfield Central H.S., and then for three years at Joliet Central H.S. At that time, through a series of crises, the Lord drew Mr. Cunningham back to Himself. During this time, Mr. Cunningham began working as a carpenter for his family’s contracting company and began preparing for ministry by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has been blessed to be able to put this training into practice here at ACS, helping students to know and to love the Lord. Mr. Cunningham, his wife, Beth, and his son, Atticus, are members at Harvest Bible Chapel, North Aurora. Mr. Cunningham also serves as Assistant to the Campus Pastor and leads the student group with his wife.
Mrs. Jaimee Draper began teaching at ACS in 2013. She teaches HS English, Speech and Sophomore Girls Bible. She has also taught Worship Band, Creative Writing, and Theater Club at ACS. She has been teaching in ACSI certified Christian schools for 20 years. She began her career in AZ for the first 10 years, teaching Theater and Speech. She ran a theater program and directed HS musicals for 10 years at NCS in AZ. She then taught English, Speech and Art for 4 years at CCA before coming to Aurora Christian. She is married to the Senior Pastor of Bethany Road Bible Church in DeKalb, and has two children in HS. She serves in worship team and women's ministry at her church. Jaimee records Christian audio books in her "free time".
Mrs. Melody Gile began teaching Spanish in 2007 at Batavia High School, where she taught for nine years. While staying at home with her infant son, Mrs. Gile felt God calling her to pursue teaching in a Christian school. She followed that calling to Aurora Christian in 2018. Mrs. Gile graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Spanish Education from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2007. She studied abroad in Costa Rica and is passionate about traveling and using language as a way to be the hands and feet of Jesus to others. She and her husband, Jason, live in North Aurora with their son, Graham, and currently attend Calvary West Church in Sugar Grove, IL.
Miss Christina Grosz teaches mathematics. While math has not always been “easy” for her, Miss Grosz had to work hard at fully comprehending the content. Demonstrating a good work ethic helped her get through her toughest classes. As a teacher of adolescents, her goal is to mold and shape each student’s mind to work hard and persevere through the rigorous subject of math, while learning some good life skills along the way. Miss Grosz graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a B.S. in Mathematics Education, certified in the middle school and secondary levels. She enjoys being outdoors and exploring the beautiful world the Lord created for us. She is always looking for cool, new places to check out (food, parks, entertainment, etc.), and is always open to suggestions!
Mrs. Beth Harner joined the Aurora Christian Athletic Department in 2013. She serves as an Assistant to the ACS Athletic Director, Mr. Dan Beebe. She enjoys spending time with her family whether at a sporting event, vacation or just sitting around the table talking. She also enjoys watching good old Hallmark movies. She and her husband Paul have five children Jennifer (Matt), Brent (Kim), Janelle (Myles), Brooke and Brock. They currently live in Sugar Grove and attend Fox River Church in Sheridan.
Mrs. Anne Hauser has been a member of the Aurora Christian School faculty since 2005. Mrs. Hauser was born and raised in Menomonee Falls, WI. She graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL with a degree in music education. She taught 7-12 band in the Edgewood-Colesburg, IA school district for one year before heading home to teach. Mrs. Hauser taught seven years for the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee in the elementary band program. While teaching there, she completed her Master of Music in Music Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Mrs. Hauser is currently the 4-12 Instrumental Music Director at Aurora Christian. While at Aurora Christian, she has coordinated the High School Band for the IL/WI ACSI Music Festival. Outside of school, Mrs. Hauser is a member of the Fox Valley Concert Band. She lives in Aurora with her husband, Jonathan, and daughters, Rachel and Rebekah. She attends Immanuel Lutheran in Batavia.
Mrs. Holly Henning has been working at ACS since 2005. After graduating from ACS in 1993, she attended Judson University in Elgin, Illinois, and earned a degree in Elementary Education. She worked for six years at Wegnar Elementary in West Chicago, teaching 3rd and 4th grade. She and her husband live in Aurora with their two sons, Kyle and Carter, and they attend Harvest Baptist in Oswego.
Mr. Jacob Hoskins grew up in Newark IL and graduated from Newark High School in 2009. Graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in December of 2014. Substitute taught in southern Illinois at Mt. Carmel High School before being called up back towards home. Has a passion for encouraging the interaction between students and the living world in which we live.
Mrs. Raquel Lightbourne-Coley joined Aurora Christian Schools in 2018. She serves on the Advancement team, where she coordinates fundraising, scholarships, parent outreach activities and other events involving the school’s Family Ministries and the Parent Connect teams. In addition, Mrs. Lightbourne-Coley leads the International Student Program at Aurora Christian Schools. Throughout her career, Mrs. Lightbourne-Coley has served in communications, community relations, marketing and event management roles for multinational corporations, global non-profits and suburban school districts. She has a passion for serving others through local and international missions, and exploring other cities, cultures and cuisines through international travel. Enthusiasm for these pursuits has led Mrs. Lightbourne-Coley to explore more than 30 countries within Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America and the Caribbean. Mrs. Lightbourne-Coley lives in Aurora with her husband and their two daughters who both attend Aurora Christian.
Mrs. Laurie Madsen has been teaching Physical Education at Aurora Christian School since fall of 1999. She has taught a variety of classes besides Physical Education for Aurora Christian over the years, including Computers and 8th grade History. She has coordinated various missions trips, as well as middle school field trips, Outdoor Ed and the Washington D.C. trip. She and her husband, Kent, attend Calvary Church of Naperville, IL. They live in Montgomery with their two children, Kirsten and Trey.
Miss Danielle Maroney found a passion for working with students during her time working with the Awana program and teaching Sunday school in her church. She attended Aurora University and earned her degree in English for Secondary Education. She is passionate about helping students read a variety of different genres to help them connect with the world and those around them. She has helped with the drama productions as a way to connect with students outside of the classroom. She loves having her room feel like home and to be a gathering place to make stronger connections with students. She currently attends Harvest New Beginnings in Oswego.
Mrs. Deb McKinney joined the ACS staff in 1987. She is currently serving as Principals' & Office Assistant, but has worked in various support staff roles over her 30+ years at ACS.
Mrs. Diane McQuade joined the Aurora Christian Athletic Department in 2011. She serves as an Assistant to the ACS Athletic Director, Mr. Dan Beebe. Diane thoroughly enjoys working with the ACS student athletes and their families. She and her husband Bob have four children Becky, Craig, Lisa and Ryan. They currently live in Yorkville, IL and attend Calvary West Church in Sugar Grove.
Bethany Morris joined the ACS music department in 2019 directing the Middle School and High School Choirs, helping out with piano and guitar lessons as well. She comes to ACS after 4 years serving in Africa with Africa Inland Mission having taught 1-12th grade music at Rift Valley Academy for the last three years. Bethany's career as a music teacher started in the States and she taught pre-K through 12th-grade music for six years before serving overseas. Bethany Morris grew up in Dupage, graduated from Wheaton Academy and now lives with her family nearby.
Mrs. Pakenham joined the staff at Aurora Christian Schools in 2018 teaching high school science. Before coming to ACS, she taught high school science in the public school system for 23 years. Mrs. Pakenham and her husband live in Naperville and are involved in Vineyard Association of Churches.
Mrs. Suzanne Rasich joined the staff of Aurora Christian High School in 1998 as the Family Science teacher. After receiving her BS in Family Science from Northern Illinois University, she worked as a cost accountant for a women's garment manufacturer. She has also run her own tailoring/alterations business, and been a franchisee for the "Kids Can Sew" program. In 1997, the Lord called her to full time teaching and led her to ACS. Mrs. Rasich and her husband, Don, live in Plano and attend First Baptist Church of Geneva.. They have two daughters, Kristen and Kim.
Jacquie Sanders was raised in Aurora, Illinois, and is an alumna of Aurora Christian School, graduating in 1994. After graduation, she moved to Hampton, VA, earning a BS in Political Science from Hampton University in 1998. She is currently working on her Masters in TIE from National Louis University. She joined the staff at Aurora Christian School in 2011 as the Extended Care Worker, and the Preschool staff as an aide in January 2012. She is currently serving as the Technology Teacher for middle school and high school students. Ms Sanders is a life-long member of Main Baptist Church in Aurora, IL, where Rev. Dr. Julian E. Spencer is her pastor.
Mrs. Michele Smoot currently leads the Food Services team. Mrs. Smoot is known for her quick wit, flexibility and ability to work well with others. Mrs. Smoot grew up in St. Charles and currently lives in Batavia with her husband, Dave, and their children.
Dr. Bill Trapp began teaching Mathematics at Aurora Christian Schools in 2019. A 1994 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, in Buffalo Grove, IL, Dr. Trapp was born and raised in northern Illinois. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Illinois - Chicago in 2018. Prior to that, he received an M.S. in Educational Research from Northern Illinois University and a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Physics from Western Illinois University. Currently Dr. Trapp is teaching Geometry, Algebra 2, and Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry. Prior to teaching at ACS, Dr. Trapp developed standardized mathematics assessments for the College Board including the SAT and ACCUPLACER. Dr. Trapp and his family attend Christ Community Church at the Dekalb campus.
Mr. Grahame Wilkin has been a professional artist for over 20 years. His experiences in the arts cover a wide range. Mr. Wilkin has been an art tutor for students with severe autism, an artist showing in art galleries including shows in multiple story buildings, a cartoonist for the newspaper, a graphic designer for major fortune 500 companies, an Art Director in charge of a staff of art designers, a sculptor for different church displays, a limited edition print artist for church fund raising, a muralist for inside and outside of buildings and homes, including five 50 foot by 30 foot backdrop paintings for the Paramount theater in Downtown Aurora, and a book illustrator. Mr. Wilkin is a member of several national art and education associations, as well as the ACSI Community Champions, and he serves as an instructor at Joni and Friends Camp teaching art to students with disabilities. He and his wife of over 20 years, Jodi, live in Aurora with their two daughters, Madalayne and Alexandera. The Wilkins attend First Presbyterian Church in Aurora, IL.
Mr. Andy Zorger has been at ACS since the 2007-08 school year. He was born in and grew up in Fort Wayne, IN; he attended Lakewood Park Christian High School in Auburn, IN. Mr. Zorger attended and graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2006 with a degree in Social Studies Education, where he also played baseball. After college, he worked as a teaching assistant at Scullen Middle School in Naperville, IL, during the 2006-07 school year. Mr. Zorger currently teaches AP World History, World History, and Economics and is the Varsity Baseball Coach. He and his wife, Rachel, live in Aurora with their 4 boys: Jackson, Carter, Harrison, and Lincoln. The Zorgers attend Ginger Creek Community Church in Aurora, IL, where he serves on the music team as one of several drummers.
