Aurora Christian Visual Fine Arts Curriculum

God created us in his own image; and one of the most fascinating and awesome gifts is our own ability to create.  Mr. Wilkin’s Animation, Ceramics, Drawing, Glass Sculpture, Photography, Painting, and Studio art classes are all at a National level with National codes. All Fine Art classes exceed the Illinois State Standards, the Priority Learning Targets of the District, and Advanced Placement for the Arts. Mr. Wilkin's students have been accepted to five of the top ten Art Colleges in the nation.

Students have the opportunity to learn about significant artists and their styles, and learn to create their own artwork in those same styles. Students also apply biblical principles to the works being studied.  They learn to break down famous works of art into the 14 elements and principles of art.

As students excel in class, they are rewarded by having their artwork published online, allowed opportunities to show their artwork in actual art galleries, and are recognized on a national level.

Each project involves a myriad of skills that are scaffolded for the students to grasp the concepts and then use those skills for the next assignment.  If any of these skills were skipped or missing, the ability to comprehend and complete the art work would be fragmented, and future projects would be more difficult for the student. It is critical for students to develop the necessary skills being taught. Therefore, Drawing I is highly recommended as a first class.
